Rose Ellen Nelson, formerly of Hannaford, ND, passed away December 15, 2018 under CHI Hospice care at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City, ND.

Rose Ellen Lee was born July 23, 1928 to Rudolph and Gudrie (Johnson) Lee in Cooperstown, ND. She grew up, attended school and graduated from Cooperstown High School.

Rose married Robert Nelson, Jr. of Hannaford, ND on September 1, 1946. They farmed in the Dazey, ND area until moving to Hannaford in 1964, where she remained until December 2016. She worked at Security State Bank in Hannaford for many years.

She is survived by her son, Tim (Linda) Nelson of Woodland, WA; her daughter, Mary (Jerome) Arbuckle of Sanborn, ND; grandsons, Robert Arbuckle and Michael (Brandi) Nelson; great-grandchildren, Jaxen and Aubree Nelson; and a sister, Evelyn Salsman of Fargo, ND.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and an infant sister, Gladys.

A memorial service will be held at the Lerud-Mathias Funeral Home in Valley City on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 1:30 PM with Pastor Foster Beckstrand officiating. Burial will be in the spring.
