Raymond Smedshammer, 94, Fargo, ND, formerly of Valley City, ND, died Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Bethany Retirement Living in Fargo.  A time for visiting and fellowship will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Valley City on Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 1-3 PM.  He will be laid to rest with military honors at the ND Veteran's Cemetery in Mandan, ND on August 14 at 3 PM.  An online guestbook is available at www.lerudmathias.com

Raymond Alfred Smedshammer was born, October 8, 1928, in Litchville, ND to Justin and Myrtle (Linn) Smedshammer.  Ray served in the US Army during the Korean War.

On May 6, 1961, he was united in marriage to Karen Borgeson at the North LaMoure Church near Litchville, ND. The family moved to Valley City in 1966.  Ray worked at Auction City Furniture and Appliance City for a combined 20 years of doing service and delivery.  The couple moved to Fargo, ND in 2011.

Ray is survived by children, LaRae Smedshammer, Shakopee, MN, David (Wendy) Smedshammer, Sandy, UT and Randy Smedshammer, Mosinee, WI; grandchildren, KarLee, RyLee, and SaLee Smedshammer, all Sandy, UT.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Karen.
