Rachel Kay (Kennedy) Sauer
January 17, 1938 - January 8, 2020

Rachel Kay (Kennedy) Sauer, 81, Fargo, ND, formerly of Valley City, ND, passed away in Bethany Homes on January 8, 2020. A funeral service for her will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church in Valley City, ND on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held for an hour prior to the service at the church. She will be buried at Hillside Cemetery in the spring.

Kay was born January 17, 1938 in Valley City, ND to Harvey and Helen (Artis) Kennedy. She graduated from Valley City High School and got her degree in Education from Valley City State College. Later she would get a degree from NDSU in Home Economics and then her master's degree in Home Economics Extension.

On August 5, 1956, she married G. Kermit Sauer.

Kay taught school for a while and then worked with her husband who started Sauer Drywall and Construction in 1975. She also worked at Woolworth's and Officeworks in Valley City. Kay was the Director of Christian Education at her church before she retired.

Kay is survived by her daughter, Connie of Fargo, son Randy (Kristi) of Long Island, NY and grandsons, Max and Bennet. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter, and her sister, Joyce Hanson.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Ethos Hospice of Fargo or to the Alzheimer's Association.
