Phillip was born on November 11, 1936, to Fred and Myrtle Krentz in Lisbon, ND. He enlisted in the Army in 1953, where he served his country with pride until 1956. He served in the Korean War, stationed in Germany with the 10th Infantry Division, L Company. Phillip worked diligently as a quartermaster supply/truck driver, embodying the values of service and dedication.

Upon completing his military service, Phillip returned to his hometown of Lisbon, where he worked for the Lisbon Creamery, before transitioning to Pepsi, as a manager. His career path eventually led him to Valley City, where he managed a Pepsi distribution center for several years. Later, he purchased the Sportsman Bar in Oakes, ND, while also engaging in farming alongside his father-in-law. He then began his 20-years with Old Dutch Foods, where he worked until his well-deserved retirement.

After his retirement he worked for Wade Bruns farming and he also worked part time at the Oriska Rest Area.

Phillip cherished the moments spent with his family and friends. He found simple pleasures in hard work. He enjoyed hunting, farming, and traveling. He always looked forward to visits from his good friends, John, Neil & Gary.

He was a member of the VFW, DAV, American Legion, Valley City Eagles & Barnes County Wildlife.  One of his favorite memories was the Veterans Honor Flight to Washington DC in 2022.

Phillip is survived by his wife Beverly (Kempel) of 62 years; his two daughters, Linda Krentz, Valley City and Debbie (Scott) Magnuson of Valley City; three grandsons, Justin (Solveig) Magnuson, Glyndon, MN, Josh (Addie) Magnuson, Watford City, Jordan (Cameryn) Magnuson, Watford City; three great grandsons, Jett, Ace, & Krieger; two nephews, Lindsay (Yvette) Krantz of Laughlin, NV and Jerry (Phyllis) Krentz, Highland Heights, KY; and a niece, Jean  (Bob) Jacobson, Fargo, ND.
