Paul Hammer, age 83, of Valley City, ND, died Monday, February 5, 2018 at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 8th at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Oriska, ND.  Visitation will be held one hour before the service Thursday afternoon at the church.  Interment will be in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery in the spring.

Paul Joseph Hammer was born September 11, 1934 on the family farm near Marion, ND to Max and Marie (Thilmony) Hammer.  The family relocated to Oriska, ND in 1941.  Paul attended school in Oriska and was employed by the North Dakota State Highway Department.  Paul served in the United States Army from April 7, 1958 to April 7, 1960.

Paul is survived by his sister Theresa (Roger Grover), brothers Fred (Jan), George (Gail), and John (Lucille) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his father Max, mother Marie, and brothers Robert and Bernard.
