Myrtle May McDonald, Age 82, passed away July 10th, 2015 at the Sheyenne Care Center with family and Hospice by her side. Myrtle was born April 5th, 1933 in Milbank, SD. She lived there before moving to Henning, MN in 1947. In 1950 she met the love of her life, Roy McDonald. On May 18th, 1952, Myrtle and Roy were married before moving to Valley City, ND in 1962 with their three children. While living in Valley City, Myrtle was employed by the Sheyenne Care Center and Land O Lakes Turkey Plant. In 1971, she and her husband opened and managed McDonald Plumbing and Heating in Valley City. Myrtle lived her life focusing on the happiness of her family and friends. Every day, she went out of her way to touch those that were close to her and live as though it was her last. Her laughter was contagious and brought a smile to many. She enjoyed calling everyone on her cell phone, catching the biggest fish any time there was money on the line, and making sure she always won the last game of cards. She was a wife and best friend to the man she loved more than anything, a mom most could wish to have, and a grandmother most could only dream of. She will be missed and loved by many, but never forgotten. Myrtle is survived by her loving husband Roy McDonald of Valley City, ND, Daughter Kathleen McDonald of Casper, Wyoming, Daughter Diane McDonald Delparte (Tim Lockwood) of Valley City, ND and Daughter in Law Mitzi McDonald of Fargo, ND. Grandchildren Ryan (Cassandra) Cunningham of Grand Forks, ND, Kurry (Greta) Delparte of Bismarck, ND, Rheanon McDonald of Fargo, ND, and Korlee Adams or Casper, Wyoming, and Great Grand Daughter Veronica Cunningham, Daughter of Ryan and Cassandra Cunningham of Grand Forks, ND. Sister Leona Brink of Courtland, MN, Sister Alice (Del) Nelson of Sun City West, AZ, Sister Viona Brink of New Ulm, MN, Brother Don (Darla) Peterson of Long Prairie, MN, Sister in Law Barbara Peterson of Minneapolis, MN, Sister in Law Cindy Peterson of Chapin, SC, and dear friend Clara Sorenson of Valley City, ND, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents Richard and May Peterson of Battle Lake, MN, son Steve McDonald of Fargo, ND, Sister Lois Jensen of International Falls, MN, Brother Glenn Peterson of Minneapolis, MN, Brother Dean Peterson of Chapin, SC, and Sister Peggy Peterson of Fergus Falls, MN. There will be a funeral service at the Methodist Church in Valley City, ND, Friday, July 17th, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. There will be visitation July 16th, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at the Methodist Church with a prayer service to follow. The place of Interment will be at Memory Gardens following the funeral.
