Monte Luke Wendel made his heavenly journey on March 24, 2018 in Moorhead, MN with his loving family by his side. He was born on May 21, 1953 to Henry and Delores Wendel in Valley City, ND. Monte married Kathryn (Gahlhoff) on February 17, 1973 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sanborn, ND, giving them a wonderful 45 years together. They made their home and raised their 3 children on the family farm in Sanborn.  The couple farmed and owned a business, Fresh Alternative Fundraising. After retiring, Monte and Kathy enjoyed the past winters in Cape Coral, FL.

Monte loved spending his days at the lake with family and friends.  He was happiest with a fish on his line, ribs on the grill, or a pheasant in his sights with his hunting dogs on point.  Monte's infectious smile and laugh made it easy for him to talk to anyone and be liked by all.

Monte is survived by his wife, Kathryn.  Children, Ryan (Cindy) Wendel, Valley City, ND.  Tonya (John) Samuelson, Sanborn, ND.  Stacy (John) Monilaws, Valley City, ND.  Grandchildren, Ryan and Jordon Thomsen, Luke and Brody Wendel, Jack and Grady Samuelson, Mariah (Adam) Edlund and Natalie Monilaws.  Great Grandchild Sophia.  Sisters, Gloria (Ed Laches) Krein, Kitty (Doug) Hanson, and brother Rocky (Terry) Wendel.  Numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.  Monte was proceeded in death by his parents, brother Henry Boyd and his mother-in-law.

The memorial mass for Monte Wendel will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Valley City, ND.  A prayer service will be held at the church at 7:00 PM, Monday.
