Marylis Vogel, age 83, of Valley City, ND, died Thursday, August 29th at SMP Health-St. Raphael in Valley City. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 4th at the Lerud Mathias Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery near Valley City. An online guestbook and livestream of Marylis' service will be available at www.lerudmathias.com
Marylis Jean (Compson) Vogel was born November 3rd, 1940, to James and Anna (Carlson) Compson. She grew up in Valley City, ND alongside her 10 siblings. In 1957, she married Orville Vogel and had 4 children; Jeff, Debbie, Scott, and Carol. She worked in dietary at Mercy Hospital for a period of time, but most of her time was spent being a homemaker and taking care of her children. Marylis loved to spend her time coloring, playing bingo, listening to music, and visiting with family. She loved helping raise her grandkids and great grandkids.
She is survived by Orville Vogel; 3 children, Carol, Jeff, and Scott; 13 grandchildren, Anna, Kayla, Josh, Nick, Brandon, Adam, Dustin, Casey, Jared, Stephanie, KaSandra, Shawn, and Shannon; 14 great grandchildren, Laityn, Michael, Emily, AnnaLee, Alexis, Aleysha, Kendra, Micah, Grace, Karmichael, Marissa, Joel Jr., Charlene, and Alex; her brother Ralph (Janice), and many nieces and nephews.
Marylis is proceeded in death by her parents; her stepfather Tony Bruns; siblings Donny, Muriel, Dorthy, Bill, Bud, Robby, Hop, Lorraine, and Margaret; daughter Debbie and son/grandson Travis.
Anyone that knew Marylis knew that she loved everybody as if they were her own. Most of all, they knew she loved her family more than anything and made sure they knew it.
