Mary Zubrod, age 90, of Valley City, ND, died Tuesday, September 27 ^th at Mercy Hospital in Valley City.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 4 ^th at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Valley City.  Visitation will be held one hour before the Mass on Tuesday morning  at the church.  Interment will be in St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery in Valley City.  An online guestbook and a livestream link for Mary's service is available at www.lerudmathias.com

Mary Luella Murphy, the daughter of Michael and Luella (Hutton) Murphy, was born February 29, 1932 in Manvel, ND where she grew up and attended school.  Mary moved to Valley City, ND in 1950 to attend Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated on June 4, 1953.  While in nursing school she met the love of her life, Vernon Ralph Zubrod.  They were married on April 26, 1954 at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Valley City, ND.  They lived on a farm near Kathryn, ND until moving to Valley City, ND in 1987.  Mary continued to work at Mercy Hospital in Valley City and Pizza Corner Factory until her husband's death on September 27, 2004. She later resided at Bridgeview Estates in Valley City, and then at Sheyenne Care Center (SMP Health - St. Raphael).  Mary was also an active member of the Hastings Homemaker Club.  She spent her whole life caring for and loving her family and other people.  Mary loved to plant her garden and looked forward to her grandchildren coming to visit.  She looked forward to playing cards on Sunday nights with her good neighbors.  She was a very loving mother, in-law, grandmother, great grandmother and will be sorely missed by family and friends.

Mary is survived by a sister, Michelle Murphy of Minneapolis, MN, and six children, son David (Elisa) Zubrod of Valley City, ND, daughter Kathy (Jerry) Sorby of Fort Ransom, ND, daughter Ruth (Darrel) Brudevold of Page, ND, son Joe (Virginia) Zubrod of Valley City, ND, son Tom (Lori) Zubrod of Apple Valley, MN, and son James (Karen) Zubrod of Valley City, ND, 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Vernon Ralph Zubrod, parents Michael and Luella Murphy, brother Frank (Marlys) Murphy of Manvel, ND, and son Michael Zubrod.
