Obituary

Leroy Suhr, 78, Valley City, ND passed away at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND on July 2, 2021.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Valley City at 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 8, 2021.  Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service beginning at 7:00.  Burial will be in Memory Gardens near Valley City.  The funeral will be live streamed, then archived for later viewing along with Leroy's obituary and tribute page at www.lerudschuldt.com

Leroy Louis Suhr was born in Erie, ND on August 24, 1942.  He lived with his mom and Aunt Rose at Oriska, ND.  He moved to California until his dad returned from military service when he was 3.  Leroy attended Kelly School north of Tower City and then Bever School, which was located on the land where his brother, Jurgen, currently lives.  Following high school, he attended North Dakota State School of Science for mechanics.

He worked as a mechanic and farm laborer until 1994, when he began working for Murray trucking.  In 1997, he bought his own truck and drove with A&H until retiring in 2021.

On November 11, 1962, he married Audrey Miller of Valley City.  Leroy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Audrey; children, Marlene (Wayne) Peter of West Fargo, ND, Dan (Michelle) Suhr of Shevlin, MN, John (Bobbi) Suhr of Valley City, and Roger (Karla) Suhr of Hankinson, ND.  He also leaves 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.  Leroy was very proud of his family and loved to talk about his grandkids.  His brothers, Jurgen (Barb) Suhr of Page, ND, Dale Suhr of Fargo, ND, Darrel Suhr of Arthur, ND, and Walter (Jill) Suhr of Mentor, MN also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew.

Lerud Mathias Funeral Home in Valley City is assisting the family with arrangements.
