LeRoy Neubauer, 84, passed away at CHI Mercy Hospital in Valley City, ND on May 19, 2026.  A private family service was held, and he was laid to rest in the Fargo National Cemetery.

LeRoy John Neubauer was born on April 24, 1942, in Breckenridge, MN, the only son of John and Rosella (Miller) Neubauer.  He grew up in Tyler, ND and graduated with the class of 1960 from Wahpeton High School.  After high school, LeRoy joined the US Air Force and was stationed at the Finley Air Force Station.

He went on to graduate from NDSU, with a degree in electrical engineering.  LeRoy moved to Rochester, NY where he worked for Kodak.  He earned his MBA from The Rochester Institute of Technology, before transferring to Windsor, CO with Kodak.

After "retiring", he returned to Tyler, ND where he farmed for a few years before settling in Valley City, ND.  LeRoy was the Director of Public Works for the City of Valley City for several years, before he really retired.

He enjoyed dancing, traveling, and spending time with his loved ones.  He loved old western movies and TV shows.  As an avid reader, he was just starting to read the Louis L'Amour collection of 200+ books (even though he'd read them all multiple times already).

A proud veteran, he was a member of the VFW.  He belonged to the Eagles club, as well as the Knights of Columbus. LeRoy was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Valley City.

LeRoy is survived by his long-time companion, Sandie Schmidt; his children, Brenda, Gregory, Jackie, and Brian; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Kotesky.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lethe Meyer.
