Obituary

Kevin Guy Tangen, son of Neil and Fay (Hopewell) Tangen, was born January 2, 1964 in Valley City, ND.  He and his siblings grew up on the family's farm southeast of Kathryn, ND.  He attended school in Kathryn and graduated from high school in 1982.

He joined the Army in 1984 and was stationed at Fort Sill, OK and in South Korea.  When he finished the US Army, he trained in Montana to become a farrier.  Kevin spent most of the rest of his life working with horses.

Kevin loved hunting, fishing, walking the hills around the area, and in particular hunting for arrowheads.  He had a sharp eye and an equally sharp witt!

He was dearly loved by family – his many nephews, nieces, step-children, grandchildren, and siblings.  Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents, Neil and Fay; brother, Daniel N. Tangen; step-daughter, Annie Arbuckle; and nephew, Justin D. Tangen.

Kevin is survived by his three brothers, Steve Tangen, Todd (Leah) Tangen, Tim (Jill) Tangen all of Kathryn and his three sisters, Deb Tangen of Gillette, WY, Sally (Kevin Nawman) Hatcher of Valley City, ND and Tammy (Jerry) Stephens of Moreno Valley, CA.  He also leaves behind many nephews and nieces, step-daughters, Emily (Trino) Chavez, Kandace Arbuckle, and Ashley (Justin) Haseleu as well as former wife, Connie Tangen of Valley City.

He passed Sunday, November 29, 2020 in the house he grew up in surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.  A celebration of Kevin's life will be held at a later date.  Lerud Mathias Funeral Home in Valley City is assisting with arrangements.  An online guestbook and tribute page can be found at www.lerudschuldt.com

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in memory of Kevin to either Hospice of the Red River Valley or to a children's cancer benefit/fund
