Jean Gratz Marcy, age 84 of Hiram, GA and formerly of Mandan, ND and Minneapolis, MN died at Hiram, GA
Nov. 30, 2016.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Wednesday Dec. 7, 2016 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Valley City with Msgr Dennis Skonseng celebrant.
Visitation will be from 5PM until 7PM Tuesday at the Lerud-Schuldt-Mathias Funeral Home in Valley City with a Prayer Service beginning at 7PM.
Burial will take place in St. Catherine's Cemetery.
Jeannine "Jean" Catherine (Nelson) Gratz, Marcy was born August 25, 1932 to Lloyd Nelson and Regina (Neises) Nelson in Wadena, MN. She attended school at St. Catherine's in Valley City, ND, graduating in 1950. She continued her education at St. Alexius in Bismarck, ND, earning a degree as a registered nurse.
Jeannine married Harry Gratz and the couple made their home in Mandan, ND where they had four sons. While living in Mandan, Jeannine worked as a nurse at the Mandan Hospital. Jeannine's second marriage was to Robert (Bob) James Marcy. She had two daughters with Bob and they resided in Minneapolis, MN.
Jeannine was the Director of Nursing at David Herman Health Care Facility in Minneapolis for many years. She also worked at Prudential as a Medical Review Case Manager, where she helped establish a new unit for Prudential. She ended her professional nursing career at Allina in Hopkins, MN, but continued to be a trusted medical resource to the family.
To escape the Minnesota winters Jeannine moved to Hiram, GA in 2004.
Jeannine cherished her time with family. She seldom missed an episode of her favorite soap operas, and was always current with the news. Jeannine enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings and Atlanta Falcons, and her favorite music was from Tom Jones, Englebert Humperdinck, and Neil Diamond. Jeannine was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Dallas, GA.
Survivors include her children, Nicholas (Debbie) Gratz of Andover, MN, Lawrence (Holly) Gratz of Plymouth, MN, Michael (Christy) Gratz of Hiram, GA, Bernard Andr ew (Brenda) Gratz of Dallas, GA, Emily Marcy of Plymouth, MN, Dena Finley of Clarksville, TN; brother, Lloyd (Donna) Nel son of Valley City, ND; grandchildren, Alexis (Matt) Manson along with great-grand child Ethan, Jeffrey Gratz, Andrea Gratz, Rachel Gratz, Mitchell Gratz, Melissa Fleischmann along with great-grand children Austin and Nathan, Jacqueline (Justin) Hardway along with great-grand children Peyton and Logan, Catherine (Les) Wellnitz along with great-grand child Matthew, Brittany Gratz, Ashleigh Gratz, Demetri Gratz, Lantana Gratz, Paris Marcy, Bradley Marcy, Paige Marcy, Arian Finley, Briana Finley; nieces and nephews, Steve Hen ricks , Shane Hen ricks, Shara Brandvold, Jenell Pease, Lloyd Nelson II, Stephanie Salto and James Nelson.
Jeannine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Jackie Henricks , brother-in-law, Eugene Henricks, infant grandson Aubrey Finley and her beloved Yorkie, Babe.
Jeannine passed away on Wednesday, November 30th at Paulding Hospital, Dallas, GA at the age of 84.
