James Dahl, age 85, of Valley City, ND, formerly of Dazey, ND, died Monday, August 15th at his residence under Hospice of the Red River Valley Care. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 19th at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Valley City. Visitation will be held one hour before the service on Friday morning. Interment will be in the Dazey Cemetery, Dazey, ND.

James Ralph Dahl, the son of Fred and Edith (Gayloff) Dahl, was born June 25, 1931 in Sharon, ND. James grew up and attended school in Sharon, ND and graduated from Sharon High School. On August 9, 1951 he married Marilyn Tharaldson. The couple lived in Dazey, ND for many years where James worked construction until his retirement. Marilyn passed away September 17, 2004. After Marilyn's death, James moved to Valley City, ND. James enjoyed fishing and going to Casino's.

James is survived by his children, Dorla Quam and Diane Olson, both Fargo, ND, Kim Dahl, Dazey, ND, Kirby (Diane) Dahl, West Fargo, ND, JoDene Dahl and Julie Peterson, both Fargo, ND and Ronnie Dahl, Dazey, ND; one sister, Josephine Hagglund, Fargo, ND; his dear friend and longtime companion, Mavis Stearns, Valley City, ND; 13 Grandchildren; 24 Great-grandchildren; 10 Great-great grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marilyn.
