Helen Huebner, age 94, of Valley City, ND, died Friday, July 3rd at Mercy Hospital in Valley City. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 10th at the First Church of the Nazarene in Valley City. Visitation will be held on Friday one hour before the service at the church. Helen Louise Jacober, the daughter of Jacob and Rosina Jacober, was born October 25, 1920 Bismarck, ND. Losing her mother at birth, and weighing less than two pounds, Helen's early years were difficult. Helen was raised by her Aunt, Fredricka Flemmer. These difficulties helped shape her into the strong, determined and self-sufficient lady she became. On October 29, 1939 Helen married John Huber of Glen Ullin, ND. They farmed in the Glen Ullin area until John died on May 4, 1956. In 1964, after some urging by her good friends and relatives Garland and Tillie Martin, Helen moved to Valley City. She became employed at Mercy Hospital until she retired in October of 1977. Helen also was an assistant cook at the Elks Club in Valley City and catered special events with Tillie Martin. In 1977, Helen married Gordon Huebner in Jamestown, ND. Her family doubled as Gordon's children and their families became a part of her life. Helen and Gordon lived in Jamestown until 1990 when they moved back to Valley City. Gordon died on May 12, 2004. Helen was a lady of several special talents. She took "Busy Hands are Happy Hands" to a whole new level. She was a jelly maker extraordinaire; her cut out Christmas cookies and pie crusts would melt in your mouth; her patchwork quilts and embroidered dish towels are works of art. Every task she undertook was a labor of love. Helen attended as many events as she could for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. It was a special night when "Silly Grandma" was cheering and smiling from the audience. Helen is survived by her children, Gladys (Ron) Kuhlmann, Glenwood, MN, Duane (Renee) Huber, Wimbledon, ND, Donald (Ann) Huber, Monticello, MN, Stanley (Judy) Huebner, Jamestown, ND, Lynette (Joseph) Eversvik, New Rockford, ND and Steve (Jo) Huebner, Jamestown, ND; her grandchildren, AJ (Carole) Kuhlmann, St. Paul, MN, Michelle (Doug) Johnson, West Fargo, ND, Steve (Christy) Huber, Fargo, ND, Eric Huber, Robbinsdale, MN, Carrie Huber (Brian Schmitz) Big Lake, MN, David Huebner, Jamestown, ND, Angela (James) Palmer, Jamestown, ND, Candace (Jason) Smith, Jamestown, ND, Jennifer (Jason) Gruebele, Jamestown, ND, Chris (Ashley Breitzman) Huebner, Fargo, ND and Danielle (Kerry) Helton, Jamestown, ND; 21 Great-grandchildren; special relatives, Tillie and Garland Martin of Valley City, ND and their children Renae Martin, Valley City, ND and Randy (Eileen) Martin, Fargo, ND. Helen was preceded in death by parents, both husbands, an infant daughter, Viola Anne Huber, a granddaughter, Sandy Kuhlmann Spanier and four sisters; Lydia Bekken, Frieda Johnson, Rose Lennick and Norma Ruzicka. Helen bequeathed her body to the Deeded Body Program at UND for medical research. She was always loving, always giving and always thinking of others to the end. May she rest in Peace. Memorials are preferred addressed to Mercy Hospital or the First Church of the Nazarene.
