Gerald "Jerry" Kunze, 82, Sibley, ND passed away at his home on March 1, 2022.  A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 10:30 AM in St. Mary's Catholic Church, rural Dazey, ND.  The Rosary will be prayed that morning beginning at 10:00.  He will be laid to rest in the St. Mary's Cemetery later in the spring.  The Mass will be live streamed then archived on Jerry's tribute page along with his obituary at the Lerud Mathias Funeral Home website ( www.lerudmathias.com

Gerald "Jerry" Kunze was born September 29, 1939 in Valley City, ND to Joe B. and Helen "Lena" (Heinze) Kunze.  He grew up and attended rural school in the Dazey, ND area and went on to vocational training.  He worked many years with the ND State Highway Department doing surveying.  Jerry served a short time in the US Army and then was a member of the ND National Guard.  He spent many hours helping on the farm, enjoying the rural life.  Jerry's past times were woodworking, hunting and fishing.

Jerry is survived by his sisters, Dolores Nogowski and Beatrice Fuchs along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Alvina Knight, Helen Geiger, and Florence Pickar and his brothers, Sylvester and Wilfred "Sonny" Kunze.

The Lerud Mathias Funeral Home in Valley City, ND is assisting the family with arrangements.
