Morley was born February 9, 1925 in Valley City, ND to G. Dewey and Teresa (Kramer) Stack.
He died July 18, 2016 at Sanford Hospital in Bismarck, ND at the age of 91. Morley graduated
from Valley City High School in 1943 and started farming with his father. In the summer of 1944 he met his future wife Mary Ann Ertelt at a barn dance at Hillcrest farm near Tower City. Mary Ann and Morley were married October 14, 1948 at St. Catherine's Church in Valley City. They made their home on the Stack homestead where they lived for 66 years before moving to their current home on Legacy Lane.
Morley continued farming and also started working construction. He was employed by Wick
Constuction, Edlund Construction, and Conley Builders working on the Mercy Hospital additon,
VCSC Science Center, the Bubble, Interstate 94 and the Missile Sites just to name a few.
Morley was a life long democrat and served as an election judge for many years. He loved all
kinds of sports and especially enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's events.
Throughout the years he built many pieces of furniture for his home and each of his children
have a piece made for them of weathered wood. His last creations he called "dust bowl" art. His
memories will live on with the sound of a saw, the pounding of a nail and the smell of sawdust.
He will be missed.
Morley is survived by his wife Mary Ann of Valley City, ND. His children Rocky (Sue)
Stack,Valley City, ND, Carolyn Koch, Gallatin Gateway, MT, Roger (JoAnn) Stack, Valley City, ND, Mark (Barb) Stack, Moorhead, MN, Robert (Sara) Stack, Minneapolis, MN and Catherine Stack, Mandan, ND; his grandchildren Sarah (Brandon) Caulfield, Rachel (Steven) Bryant and Robert Stack, Kelly (AnnMarie) Koch, Tara (Shawn) Harrison, Katelyn (Wade) Peterson, Jessica Stack, Jordan (Elsie) Stack, Janelle (Alex) Chapman, Jake Stack, Teresa (Brandon) Johnson, George "Max" Stack, Dani, Gerae and Isaiah Stack and his greatgrandchildren Paige, Easton, Rockie Ann, Bear, Raelyn, Sadie, Molly, John, Kyler, Kellen, Cole, Annie and Ava. Morley was preceded in death by his parents Dewey and Teresa Stack and his son-in-law Gene Koch.
