Eugene "Gene" Hollinshead, 65, Rogers, ND passed away peacefully at his home March 23, 2024.  His funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, March 29, 2024, in the Lerud Mathias Funeral Home Chapel, Valley City, ND.  Visitation will be the hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dazey, ND.  The service will be live streamed, then archived, on a link provided along with his obituary on his tribute page at www.lerudmathias.com.  An online guestbook is available there as well.

Gene was born April 1, 1958, to Wayland and Anna Hollinshead of Rogers, ND.  He attended and graduated from North Central School, Rogers.

He was united in marriage to Linda Skjeret on August 30, 1977.  They lived in Dazey and Cooperstown and together had three children, Melinda, Valerie, and Terry.

Gene worked as a diesel mechanic for many years in Cooperstown, ND.  He really enjoyed working and fixing on older vehicles.  In his younger days, he loved to go trapping, hunting and to the horse races.  He also liked taking his kids to an occasional auction.  In recent years, he enjoyed going to the casino when able.

He is survived by his three children, Melinda (Steven) Morlock of Gwinner, ND, Valerie (Brandon) Cavett of Enderlin, ND, and Terry (Amanda) Hollinshead of Valley City, ND; grandchildren, Dillon (Teresa), Alexis (Riley), Alexa, Addisyn, Tyleigh, Koty, Taya, and Easton; great grandchildren, Coy and Bella; brothers, Stroud (Janelle) Hollinshead, David (Patty) Hollinshead, Ed (Mary) Hollinshead, all of Rogers, and John Hollinshead of Bennett, CO; sisters, Margaret Hollinshead-Dorfman of Atlanta, GA, Anne (Richard) Rowe of Edgerton, KS, and Linda (Wayne) Hollinshead of Yorba Linda, CA.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Ethan Chadwick; nephew, Eric Hollinshead; and a sister-in-law, Debbie Hollinshead.
