Elaine A. Hill, 89 of Valley City, ND died August 14, 2015 at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City. Memorial Services will be conducted at 11 AM Thursday August 20, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Valley City with Rev. JoAnne Moeller officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Sanborn, ND. Elaine was born June 12, 1926 in Devils Lake, ND to John and Mabel (Krueger) Hess. After graduating from Valley City College High she attended Valley City Teachers College, graduating in 1948. June 25, 1948 she married Charles Hill and raised two boys. Elaine began her teaching career in Kathryn, ND teaching 6th-8th grade social studies, and then the following year taught business at Oriska, ND for 18 years. Following retirement, Elaine and Charles wintered in Mesa, AZ. She enjoyed going to casinos, reading, and was an avid bridge player, reaching life master. Charles passed away in 2005. Elaine was a member of Trinity Lutheran church and several bridge clubs throughout the years. The past two years she enjoyed living at Bridgeview Assisted Living in Valley City. Elaine is survived by two sons; John (Diane) Hill and Robert Hill, both Valley City, one grandson Phillip Hill, Valley City and a sister-in-law, Marlys Hess, Apple Valley, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Dennis Hess.
