Douglas "Doug" Engle, 69, Rogers, ND passed away December 1, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Valley City, ND.  The memorial service for Doug will be at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rogers on Friday, December 9, 2022, at 2:00 PM.  Visitation will be the hour prior to the service and a time of fellowship will follow.  Burial will be in the Dazey Cemetery in the spring.  The service will be live streamed, then archived, on a link provided along with his obituary on his tribute page at www.lerudmathias.com .  An online guestbook is available there as well.

Douglas Dale Engle was born October 7, 1953, in Valley City to Dale and Edith Engle of Rogers, ND.  He graduated from North Central of Barnes High School in 1971 then joined the US Navy.  He flew to California for boot camp.  Doug spent time in San Diego, CA, Memphis, TN, North Kingstown, RI, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Jacksonville, FL.  After his honorable discharge he returned to ND and made his home in Rogers.

On February 28, 1976, he married Mary Alice Batchelder at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sanborn, ND.  They made their home in Rogers where they raised their three sons, Ryan, Robert, and Joshua.

In May of 1976, he started working for Bald Hill Electric and Town & Country Electric where he obtained his Journeyman and Master Electrician License.  Doug and Mary started Engle's Electric in March of 1982.  He worked alone most of the time until his sons were old enough to tag along.  He enjoyed working with his sons, whether it was one of them or all three.

Doug was a member of the American Legion Post 60.

He is survived by his sons, Robert and Joshua; his grandchildren, Blake, Grant and Claire; siblings, Gloria (Joe) Pesek, Cheryl (Eugene) Jewett, Craig (Kathy) Engle, Jeff Engle; and his aunt, Josie Peterson.

Douglas was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; son, Ryan; and parents, Dale and Edith.
