Dorothy Brown, age 94 of Moorhead, MN and formerly of Valley City died Saturday June 20, 2015 at Sanford Health in Fargo. A Funeral Mass will be recited at 10:30 AM Wednesday June 24, 2015 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Valley City with Msgr Dennis Skonseng celebrant. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Tuesday at the Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home in Valley City with a Prayer Service beginning at 7 PM. Interment will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery at Valley City. Dorothy Katherine (Schulte) Brown passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at age 94 in Broadway Sanford Hospital surrounded by her family. She was a woman of great faith and character, beloved by all those who came in contact with her. She was known for her indomitable courage, endless patience and acceptance of all. She was a loving and supportive grandmother. She worked as a cook at Mercy Hospital and the Elks Club in Valley City before retiring. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Catherine's Church in Valley City. Born in Golva, ND on May 29, 1921 to Lorenz S. and Mary Denne (Wehrman) Schulte, she had 21 siblings and was the mother of 15 children. The Schultes and Wehrmans were the original homesteaders of their farm and ranch land in western North Dakota. She was a grandmother to 29 children. Dorothy married Ralph W. Slone on September 19, 1939 at St. Mary's Church in Golva, ND. Ralph was transferred by the government to a new post in Alaska in 1940 where the couple raised 13 children. After her husband and their son Edgar drowned in a fishing accident in 1959, she returned to North Dakota with her 12 children. Dorothy married Loren Brown on January 19, 1961 in Jamestown, ND. The family lived in Jamestown, Kathryn and Valley City, North Dakota. She had been living at Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead for the past several years. Her husbands predeceased her. She leaves the following children: Elizabeth Katherine Ellis of Moorhead, MN; Kathleen Eleanor Clark of Soldotna, AK; Shirley Florence McCormick of Eagle River, AK; William Lorenz Slone of Homer, AK; John Henry Slone of Anchorage, AK; Stephanie Patel of Fargo, ND; David Robert (Stephanie) Slone of Saunderstown, RI; Mildred Frances (Pete) Crawford of Walla Walla, WA; Diana Marie (Paul) Erickson of Luverne, MN; Fred T. (Kristin) Slone of Anchorage, AK; Robert Loren Brown of Valley City, ND and Lori Lee Brown of Casselton, ND. Her daughters, Mary Joanne Carmichael and Patricia Ann Corey, and a son Edgar Allen Slone preceded her in death. All of her siblings had predeceased her. Her Schulte siblings included: Henry, Robert, Florentia, Edward, Ralph, Albin, Aloyesia, Joseph, Hildagaard, Francisa, Veronica, Augusta, John, Norbert, Eleanora. Her Wehrman siblings included: Norbert, Aloysius, Anna, Helena, Paul and Gifts in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Catherine's Church of Valley City, ND.
