The funeral mass for Donald W. Johnson, 68, Valley City, ND will be celebrated on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 10:30 AM at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Valley City. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7 with a Rosary and prayer service beginning at 7:00 at the church. Burial will be in St. Catherine Catholic Cemetery, Valley City. Don passed away at Mercy Hospital in Valley City on January 15, 2019.

Donald Wayne Johnson was born near Northwood, ND on November 21, 1950 to Melvin and Berneice (Swanson) Johnson. He grew up on a farm and attended country school. In 1968, he graduated from Larimore, ND High School. Don served his country proudly on the front lines in Vietnam while in the US Army.

After being honorably discharged, he returned home to help on the family farm before going to college in Wahpeton. He took up plumbing at the North Dakota State School of Science, then moved to Valley City, ND where he began his career with Webster's Plumbing and Heating as an apprentice. Don worked at Sorensen Plumbing and Heating, at which time he received his master plumbing license. He was working with RJ's Plumbing and Heating when he retired.

In 1976, Don married Helen Miller at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Oriska. He was a member of the VFW and Legion as well as the Eagles Club.

Don is survived by his wife, Helen; son, Mike; daughter Casey Skramstad; grandchildren, Jaci and Jacob Johnson and Kendra and Rylan Skramstad; brothers, Allen (Judden) and Bob (Denise); as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Lynn Johnson.
