Delores I. Hoffman, age 90, of Valley City, ND died April 15, 2016 at the Sheyenne Care Center of Valley City.  The funeral will be at 11AM Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home, Valley City, ND with Virginia Davy officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery.

Delores I. Nielson was born on April 9, 1926, the daughter of Simon and Hannah Nielson, on a farm in Steele, Co, near Hope, ND.  She attended school at Blabon, ND.

On November 21, 1948 she was united in marriage to Lawrence R. Hoffman at Hope, ND.  They moved to a farm south of Valley City and farmed until 1963.  They moved to Valley City and made their home there.  Delores worked for the Valley City Times Record as a typesetter and when that became automated she set up a daycare business in her home which she ran for over 30 years.  Over the years she took care of many children and not only did a great job but loved them all.  Delores was also an avid bowler.  Her husband died in May of 1982.  In December of 2012 she moved to the Sheyenne Care Center.

Delores is survived by her three children.  Daughters, Candace O'Brien, Valley City, ND and Penny (William) Biedermann, Crystal Lake, IL, and a son Larry (Diane) Hoffman, Grand Forks, ND, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and 2 step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, John O'Brien, five sisters, and five brothers.
