Delores "Dorie" Hanson, age 87, of Valley City, ND, formerly of Litchville, ND, died at Eventide in Fargo, ND on August 6, 2017. Her funeral service will be held at First Lutheran Church in Litchville, ND on Friday, August 11 ^th at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Lerud Schuldt Mathias Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church on Friday morning. Interment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery near Litchville, ND.

Dorie was born July 9, 1930 at Valley City, ND to Edwin and Selma (Lahlum) Olstad. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She grew up in the Kathryn, ND area and attended school there. On November 10, 1948, she married Kenneth Hanson in the Sheyenne Valley Church of rural Kathryn. They farmed near Kathryn and in 1964, they moved to Litchville, ND. She was a lifelong resident of Barnes County. Dorie worked as the school secretary for the Litchville School for 21 years.

She enjoyed her family, gardening, quilting and working with the students and faculty at the school. She held a number of offices in her church and the ELCW along with her circle.

Dorie is survived by her son, Gregory (Betty) Hanson of West Fargo, ND; daughters, Sue (Ted) Deehr of Roseville, CA, Jeanne (Bill) Balek of Hayden, ID, Pam (Jack) Matekovic of Helper, UT, and Ann Erbele of Hayden, ID; 10 grandchildren; 9 Great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Phyllis Wallace of Renton, WA and Mary Ann Anderson of Valley City, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ken.
