David Michael Dvorak, 49, died a peaceful and totally unexpected death in his home on Saturday, August 6, 2016, due to natural causes.

David is survived by his wife of 22 years, Elizabeth (Kiser) Dvorak; his two sons, Michael and Frank, also of Valley City; his mother, Lois Dvorak of Kathryn, ND; his siblings: Julie Dvorak of Mesa, AZ, John (& Anne) Dvorak of Custer, SD, Steven (& Tamie) Dvorak of Brookings, SD, and Susan (& Scott) Taylor of Watertown, SD; his sister-in-law, Terry Kiser of Valley City, and brothers-in-law, Herby Kiser of Valley City, and Mark Kiser of Litchville, ND; and by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was born in Platte, SD, to Paul and Lois ( Cahill ) Dvorak on July 17, 1967.  David attended Geddes (SD) Community School through the ninth grade.  After his family moved to Valley City, ND, in 1983, he put in his last 3 years of high school at Valley City HS, graduating in 1986.  David also received an Associate's Degree (Farm Business Management) from the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND, in the year 1988.

David put in a couple short stints of farm work before settling into a more permanent position in the maintenance department at the Sheyenne Care Center (nursing home) in Valley City.  He worked there faithfully for over 25 years – on up through the time of his passing.  David and his new-found bride, Beth, were married on September 18, 1993.  Beth also worked at Sheyenne Care Center for a number of years.

David's hobbies and interests were few.  He prided himself in being a "handyman" and gladly helped anyone who could benefit from his skills.  He mowed many lawns and did a number of odd projects for friends who could use a helping hand – and especially for his mother, Lois, after his dad (Paul) passed away.

David was a man of few words; but people enjoyed the warmth of his pleasant nature and liked having him around.  When you finally were able to get him engaged in conversation, it was usually about farming or about tractors.  The old adage "you can take the boy off the farm, but you can't take the farm out of the boy" certainly rang true with David.

David and his family were active members of the Valley City Assembly of God church. His faith and beliefs were very important to him; and he was always ready and willing to talk about God and spiritual matters with anyone expressing a similar interest.
