Darlene M. Miller, 79, Valley City, ND passed away April 20, 2025, at her home surrounded by family while in the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.  There will be a celebration of life May 5, 2025, at 10:30 AM in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Valley City.  Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM.  The service will be live-streamed and archived on a link provided along with her obituary on her tribute page at www.lerudmathias.com.  An online guestbook is available there as well.

Darlene Mary Pittenger was born in Cooperstown, ND February 1, 1946, to Helmer and Evelyn (Larson) Pittenger.  She grew up attending school in Binford and Verona, ND.

She was married in 1966 and was blessed with 3 sons.  They lived in Wisconsin for a time before returning to ND.

Darlene was not afraid to work.  She had different jobs throughout her life, but the one that brought her the most joy was while working at Bayshore Resort.  It was here that she met Andy Miller.  They were married in 1991 and lived north of Valley City.

Before retiring, Darlene spent many years working at Maryvale, just north of Valley City.  After retiring, she and Andy traveled together and spent several winters in AZ.

In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens, she had two green thumbs. Always one to keep busy, she did crafts and other handiwork in addition to spoiling her dogs.

Family was very important to Darlene.  She enjoyed hosting family gatherings or traveling to spend time with family members. One of her favorite reasons to travel was to attend her grandchildren's activities, not letting anything stop her, not even a heart attack.

Darlene is survived by husband, Andy; her 3 sons, Kevin (Lisa) of Gwinner, ND, Larry (Penny) of Fargo, ND, Andrew (Mindy) of Valley City, ND; grandchildren, Mandi, Kenzie, Madison (Ben), Zac, Brooke, Madisyn, Mason (Miah), Kyra and Jerica; great grandchildren, Lauren, Aubree, Teegan, Jagger, Kipton, LillySophia, Apollo, and Hannah; siblings, Orville (Avis) Pittenger, Bud (Eugene) Pittenger, Janice (Jon) Hanenberg, and Diane (Paul) Adrian; sisters-in-law, Audrey Suhr and Phyllis Davis; several nieces and nephews; and her favorite "child", Benji.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Leroy, Lloyd, and Lyle Pittenger; and sisters-in-law, Marilyn Scully and Sharon Kinney.

In place of flowers, her family suggests that donations be made to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
