Clara Jean Vaughn, the daughter of Harvey and Elenora (Ludwig) Vaughn, was born March 19, 1932.  Clara grew up and attended school in Dazey, ND where she graduated from High School. In August of 1950, she married the love of her life, Mel Bredeson at the Methodist Parsonage in Valley City.  Together they built a life rooted in hard work, service and devotion to family.  Over the years, they lived in several locations including Camp Rucker, Alabama, Valley City, Dazey, Winnemucca, Nevada, Wimbledon and Camp Grafton Near Devils Lake.  It was in Dazey where they built their home and raised their three sons:  Ricke, Micke and Nicke.  Clara was a woman of remarkable drive and community spirit.  While living at Camp Grafton, she opened and operated a café and was deeply involved in local organizations.  She served as the Sunday School Superintendent at the Methodist Church, was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, helped create a Teen Center, served on the City Council and worked in several cafés and restaurants over the years.  In 1999, Clara settled in Valley City to be closer to her mother.  During this time, she was blessed with and extended family, the Ronnings, whom she cherished deeply.  She joyfully embraced additional grandchildren and later great-grandchildren, loving them as "Her Own."

Clara is survived by her three sons, Ricke (Audrey) Bredeson, and grandchildren:  Drew, Jamie, Ashley, Melissa, Paul, Tina, McKenzie, Kacie Ann, Kristen, Peggy, Dylan and Payton; Micke (Myrna) Bredeson, and grandchildren:  Eric, Tatum, MaKayla, Brianna, Tyler, Huxley and Taylor; Nicke (Janneth) Bredeson, and grandchildren:  Aaron and Taylor and a great-granddaughter Wendie; as well as many extended family member and loved ones.
