Beverly Ann Jewett, the daughter of John and Winnifred (Farrell) Jewett, was born July 2, 1939 in Valley City. Beverly grew up in Valley City and attended Alderman Elementary School and graduated from College High School. After receiving her education, she worked at Red Owl Grocery Store in Valley City. On June 30, 1957 she married the love of her Life, Harry Gierke, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Valley City. The couple lived in Oriska, ND where they raised their four children and shared a life full of love and adventure. Beverly was a devoted wife and mother who was very active in Homemakers Club, Zion Lutheran Church, Oriska School PTO, was a 4-H Leader and was a member of the Valley City Eagles Auxiliary. After her children were older, she was a bus driver for the Oriska School for 28 years. Upon retirement, she enjoyed working at various jobs and transporting vehicles with her husband Harry. Beverly was a loving and strong-willed mother who enjoyed celebrating special occasions with her family. She had a love for horses, was known for her green thumb for gardening and flowers, sewing, baking and her famous popcorn balls for the holidays.
Beverly is survived by her husband Harry Gierke; her four children, Larry (Janet) Gierke, Debra (Jerry) Lindemann, Diana Mittleider and Linda (Mike Brown) Hoffman-Gierke; her 8 grandchildren, Shane (Tiffany) Kearns, Michael Hoffman, Melissa Pham, Melissa (Monty) Wall, Ashley (Nick) Horner, Katie Jo (Chris) Selfridge, Cassie Hoffman and Samantha (Justin) Lang; 16 Great-Grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Bailey.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Norman Jewett, her father and mother-in-law Harvey Gierke and Elsie Avery, a son-in-law Keith Kearns and an aunt Elva Dittmer.
