Betty Bostrom, age 94, of Valley City, ND, gracefully finished her journey through life at St. Raphael's on October 25, 2024, leaving behind an indelible legacy.  A private family service will be held.  Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery near Valley City.  An online guestbook will be available at www.lerudmathias.com.

Betty Hazel Bostrom was born under the prairie skies on the family farm in Green Township, on November 7, 1929. The only daughter to Benjamin and Laura (Kreuslich) Kjelland, Betty spent her entire life surrounded by the embrace of faith, family, and friends in the community which she never felt the need to leave until now.  For over nine decades, she witnessed innovation first hand that for many will only be found in history books. She walked to school with her six brothers, beginning at a one-room schoolhouse in Hobart Township, followed by attending one of the first consolidated schools of the area, the Green School, and finally graduating at College High in Valley City.   As a steadfast member of Zion Lutheran Free Church, she began a life with William Claris Bostrom in 1963. Together they crafted 45 years of memories by raising a family rooted in the community she cherished. Music flowed through their lives like a well-loved tune, a passion she shared with her husband. For many years, they attended and hosted legendary music events. She was guided by her compassion and unwavering faith as a member of the Ladies Aid Society and Christian Women's Group that embodied kindred spirits, sowing seeds of kindness. Betty wore her personality with comforting ease and always greeted people with a wide smile and open heart. A lover of nature - she would pick a garden over a kitchen any day. Caring for her flowers was a labor of love that only stopped when guests arrived. Known for her hospitality, Betty's home was ready to welcome anyone with a fresh pot of coffee.

Her sons, David and Dennis, reflect the love she cultivated in her life, each of them a testament to the deeply ingrained values she and William passed on.

She will carry the echoes of her legacy with her as she joins her beloved husband, William, and sons, Jeffrey and Gary, brothers and parents to her heavenly homecoming. In a reflection of Betty's gentle nature, a private service will allow her family to lay her to rest surrounded by love.
