A funeral mass for Arla Trucke, 94, of Valley City, ND will be 10:30 AM, Friday, December 30, 2016 at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Valley City. Burial will take place in Memory Gardens near Valley City in the spring.

Visitation will be held at the Lerud Schuldt Mathias Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday with a prayer service beginning at 7:00. Visitation will resume an hour prior to the service at the church on Friday morning.

Arla Marie Aune was born in rural Barnes County, ND on March 13, 1922 to Ole and Millie (Rasmusson) Aune. Arla's baptism certificate was issued at the Standing Rock Church in Fort Ransom, ND, written in Norwegian. Her childhood was spent growing up on a farm near Verona. Arla attended school in Verona, graduating from high school there.

June 8, 1940, she married George Trucke in Moorhead, MN. They made their home in Verona. During WWII, George went to Seattle to work in the shipyards and Arla traveled with him. Following the war, they returned to Verona. In 1979, they moved to Valley City, ND. While living in Valley City, Arla found a job that fit with her love of visiting, she was a local Avon Lady. In 2015, she entered the Sheyenne Care Center, where she passed away December 27, 2016.

She was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church. Arla spent many hours crocheting, making blankets and other needleworks for loved ones. She liked to go fishing, but mostly enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren.

Arla is survived by her son, Kim (Lori) Trucke; grandchildren, Beth (Kyle) Hendrickson, Jill (Ryan) Walen, and Jenny (Bradley Baumgartner) Trucke; great grandchildren, Tara and Emma Hendrickson and Lilly and Ryder Walen; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, a daughter, a great grandson, and a sister.
